I loved this project! Creating an alternative dress for a brief set by Phaze, I was able to showcase my technical skills and use my creative skills to make matching accessories. Photography by Chris Proctor.

Swan Lake dress

This dress is something I am most proud of. It took a lot of time to make and was all done from scratch. The making and development process is documented at the start of this blog. Here are some of the final images taken by my lovely friend Calum and modelled by another lovely friend of mine, Rachel :)

Fashion Front Row, Newcastle Fashion Week 2012

 My finished accessories for my fashion show. Each piece is unique and lovingly hand made by myself. They can be worn as a belt, hair piece, necklace, bracelet..anything you fancy :}

For my show I used the one on the far left, securing it to a piece of lace trim to make a necklace. I styled it with my satin shirt dress with the lace trim, which shown in the Fashion Front Row, an event for Newcastle Fashion Week at As You Like It. The show was presented by Jane Middlemiss and featured other designers such as milliner The Libertarian, lingerie designer Tallulah Rose, Pixie Lott's fave jewellery brand Rock and Rose and of course, New Vestige, the name under which myself and two other designers showed under. Happy Halloween!

A few days delayed but I wanted to share my Halloween outfit with you :) Little Dead Riding Hood - The riding hood is a light weight cotton which I designed and made. The gingham top is also cotton with a chunky metal zip up the back (apologies for the poor quality images :})

Final Major Project: Garment Creation

This toile pair of palazzo trousers are made from a knitted patterened fabric with a heavy weight cotton drill waistband. The final pair will be made using a cream/ivory coloured lightweight chiffon with a lace covered cotton drill waistband. The gathers allow the fabric to fall beautifully and create the flattering silhouette I wanted. I did cut the waist band on the bias, which has made the fabric twist, but other than that I am very pleased with how they have turned out.

This toile is made from callico as it is similar to the fabric I will be using for the final garment. The two centre front panels, cups and centre back panels will be made using a printed stiff cotton fabric of my own design, and the front and back side panels will be a dusky pink silk dupion. This dress was fairly simple to construct. I used bra cups as a guide line for where to place the cups on my dress. The hem is cut by hand to create the shape in my original designs, then the paper pattern is altered to match.
