I decided to create my
own print for panels in my fitted dress. I sketched a rose design, then coloured it using
photoshop. The image was then digitally printed onto cotton fabric. The design came out
brighter than I had expected and did not seem to match with the
dusky pink of the silk dupion I had already chosen. I decided to still use both fabrics and I am really happy with the final result. The colours in the print are
tonal with the fabric, but the vibrancy of the print stands out and gives the garments a
fresh, quirky look.
I digitally printed an
enlarged single rose for my shirt dress. The print looked really
flat against the plain background, so I used a domestic sewing machine to
highlight some of the petals and the veins in the leaves.
